Bug Under Glass is the first and only Green Certified insect display business and is built on a foundation of ecological conservation, science education and organic design. These core values are at the heart of every insect design created in a hope that it will instill a sense of wonder and better understanding of the natural world.

The idea for Bug Under Glass happened while Kevin was working among the 14 million insect specimens in the California Academy of Science’s entomology department. He was amazed by the extensive and incredible insect collections but disappointed this amazing collection was behind closed doors and the general public could not freely witness and learn about them. Upon learning that he could obtain museum quality specimens in an ethical and environmentally friendly way, while at the same time educating others about insects - a new craft business was formed to express his creativity.

Bug Under Glass is proud to be the first and only
GREEN CERTIFIED insect display business in the country.

Kevin
Kevin Clarke is a biologist and insect artesian living in San Francisco. Insects have been a fascination of his since childhood when a large carpenter ant colony living in his front yard ignited a lifelong passion. Their vibrant colors, bizarre personalities and biological importance continue to captivate him and inspired him to quit a job in finance and pursue a graduate degree in Conservation Biology.

Besides insects, Kevin has lived in London, Belgium, Italy and South Africa and his travels have taken him to over 30 countries in search of old maps, odd culture and artesian beers. His insect art wishes to restore a sense of wonder about the natural world and showcase the beauty that lives among us. He believes if more people are able to witness, learn (and sometimes laugh) about the natural world, the more likely they will take steps to preserve it.
